About Us
Canine Candor is a 501(c)3, non-profit, state licensed organization designed to provide rescue, fostering, rehabilitation, placement and networking to all dogs in need!
Kathryn Zaggle Richter, the founder and director of Canine Candor, has always had a passion for both pets and people. She volunteered and worked in many different shelter and rescue environments while while she completed her Associates and Bachelor's degrees. She has also been certified in Pet Loss Companioning through the Center for Loss and Life Transition in Fort Collins, CO and certified in TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language). In her spare time, Kathryn enjoys spending time with her family and her dogs (a pit bull and a mastiff) as well as traveling with her family and advocating for animals in other countries.
With Canine Candor, she hopes to combine her interests and help dogs through rescuing and placement, but also help people and the community through pet education programs for youth and pet loss support for pet parents.
A top priority right now for Canine Candor is to grow its number of foster homes and focus on getting dogs out of emergency situations and into loving homes. Some dogs may be up for euthanasia at overcrowded shelters, others simply abandoned by their owners, or maybe the victims of a tough economy where owners must downsize and can't afford their pets any longer. These dogs all deserve a fair chance to get out of these situations and find their way into a new and promising future.
